“Only when we can say, ‘I am first and foremost a human being… and second a Jew, Muslim, Buddhist, Christian, or Hindu, will we progress our shared humanity.”

“Only when we can say, ‘I am first and foremost a human being and second a Jew, Muslim, Buddhist, Christian, or Hindu, will we progress our shared humanity. Let not our beliefs, but our shared humanity define who we really are. What we believe is not nearly as important as how we relate, interact with each other…and how we live.”

My letter to Madiba (1995)

February 25, 2020

retrieved from my old (ancient/”prehistoric” * floppy discs (I think…after much effort)
Never give up!
* what my “technogeek” friend, Bill calls them!

see https://drive.google.com/file/d/1V7QgwYFeVQYlBY8PJd9msx-PMmPk4032/view?ts=5e554f32

PS
Not sure if it can be read on Google Drive, as I saved it originally on my old Brother 1450 wordprocessor (and can’t convert to a txt file). I can read it on my old WP, but can’t copy and paste into a Word doc, nor as a txt file. Am copying in WPS format to my dvd drive. I want to turn all from old writings and files from 1993-1996 + letters to newspapers into a new book.

enjoy and good luck
“non-techno, but purrsistent” (who get by with a little help from my ‘technogeek’ friends” c

PPS
I got a hugely encouraging and inspiring reply from Madiba’s office (with a personal message from the President) in those
“very dark” days (here) in the mid nineties

Together, one mind, one life (one small step at a time), let’s see how many people (and lives) we can encourage, impact, empower, enrich, uplift and perhaps even inspire to reach their fullest potentials…and strive for and perhaps one sunny day even achieve their wildest dreams.

* By the way, do they still make them in today’s ever-faster changing world..or is it all done with mobile phones?
